Monkey Business- 2005-04-01
A new species of monkey was discovered in Bolivia’s Madidi National Park by Dr. Wallace and a team of researchers. Having discovered this new species the responsibility of naming the world’s newest primate fell on him his shoulders. Dr. Wallace decided to relinquish the naming rights and put them up for auction in order to raise funds for conservation efforts but also to raise awareness for one of South America’s poorest nations. He might be regretting his decision now, not in his wildest dreams did he think that GoldenPalace.com, the online casino would swoop in and buy the naming rights for a whopping sum of $650,000.
The new species of Monkey will be named, get this “GoldenPalace.com Monkey”. If Darwin were alive today he would strike that monkey down so that he would not have to bear that horrific name. How can an endangered and rare monkey, which was just recently discovered, be named after an online casino’s URL? Is there no scientific integrity left in this world? How could the scientific community let them name a monkey after a URL?
"This species will bear our name for as long as it exists. Hundreds, even thousands of years from now, the GoldenPalace.com Monkey will live to carry our name through the ages. Naming this species has bought us scientific, as well as virtual immortality." said GoldenPalace.com CEO Richard Rowe
This guy is the real monkey. Seriously, who says, “Naming this species has bought us scientific immortality”, what the hell does that mean. I bet you the Goldenpalace.com monkey has more brains than him.
This type of marketing technique doesn’t help bring in players to their casino and in my opinion is a terrible business move but on the other hand at least the $650,000 went to a worth cause.
